I'm a pretty girl that has a question about a guy and relationship?

hi there, i met this real sweet guy and we were talking for about a week before we went and hung out and when we hung out it went great and everything and after he is always complimenting me i'm so beautiful, y, gorgeous and stuff like that, and then while we were talking on the phone i mentioned a friend of mines relationship and after we chatted about that he said "will you be my friend with benefits." and first i was very shocked to hear him say that and second he always said all those things i definetly didn't think he'd say something like that, i would think maybe after hanging out a few more times he would maybe ask to be his girlfriend, but he said and asked "fwb" and i didn't answer him and said lets talk about something else, and my question now is by him saying that does anyone know from a guys perspective does that mean he doesn't see me as a girlfriend type and is that like a light rejection of some sort? or could it mean something totally different, loll thanks just trying to find where that came from and what it could mean cause lol it's not something i'm really interested in lol so i'll know what to say.
