Tips for handling a spooky horse?

do some desensitizeing and bombproof work show him bags and tractors and cloth etc. Do this in a round pen or arena where he can run but not far and he can't hurt himself. Over time he will understand that these things won't hurt him and he should't shy so much you also might want to get a longer lead rope so when he's baulking etc. you can let him out so he's not so close to you this helps settle your nerves and when he's done freaking lead him on calmly remember if your wound up so is he so if you're calm he'll cool down.
