What if our olympic teams functioned like our government with its divisive factions inside them?

Would we win any medals if they practiced teamwork like our executive and legislative branches? Why can't politicians figure out that they need to work as a team to accomplish goals? Is it really because of the special interest groups who influence them? If so, why isn't it illegal for a special interest group lobbyists to approach a member of the governing body or political candidate? Shouldn't it be illegal for special interest groups to give money to any member of our governing body or candidate for office?
